A World of Winter Sports in Val D'Isere
The town has been inhabited since the Roman times and received parish rights in 1637; the parish church was built in 1664 and still stands in the centre of the town. During the 1992 Winter Olympic Games, the men's downhill race was held on the Face de Bellevarde and other alpine skiing events were held around the area too. After a short flight from the UK, transfers from Geneva to Val d'Isere will take you into the heart of the area, most recognisable for its interesting chalet-style architecture. When you aren't out enjoying the winter sports, take a wander along the streets which, along with Tignes, are considered to be part of "the most beautiful ski area in the world."
