Phil Gemmer, a longtime Houston insurance agent and former president of the Touchdown Club of Houston, was remembered Tuesday for his support of his alma mater, the University of Texas, and his role in creating the Bayou Bucket tradition for the annual Rice-Houston football game. Gemmer, who held bachelor?s and master?s degrees from Texas and was a veteran of the Korean War, died Sunday. He was 83.
